What is Great Escape on the Lake?
We are an annual fun-for-the-whole-family board game convention and geek adventure camp on Lamoka Lake in Upstate NY. There are different activities for all ages (we rent out an entire summer youth camp for the event)! In addition to tabletop games, LARP, and RPG’s, other activities include axe throwing, zip lining, climbing wall, boating, tubing, canoes and paddle boats, ropes course, nature trails, archery, archery tag, miniature painting, crafts, and more. Feel free to bring your own boat or enjoy the camps boats!
A unique convention located in the very heart of the Finger Lakes on Lamoka Lake in Upstate NY. We’re just 15 minutes from Watkins Glen and central to many wineries and close to other lakes such as Seneca, Waneta, and Keuka!
Do you offer refunds?
Yes! Refunds, less a 10% convenience fee, are provided up until Sat, July 1st. All purchases are final after Sat, July 1st.
Is there an age limit?
Community is super important to us and creating opportunities for groups of friends, families, and people of all ages to come out and enjoy time together is one of our key focuses for this event.
Children ages 4 and under are FREE.
Note: Childcare is not provided. All children must always be under the direct supervision of their parents/adult guardian.
Is there a place to wash laundry?
Yes! A washer and dryer are provided free of charge. They are located in a small room behind the Castle (Dining Hall). Please provide your own soap.
Are there designated areas for smoking / vaping / alcohol?
Smoking and vaping are welcome in specific areas, such as the dirt road above camp and the paved road below the camp by the lake (areas considered public property). The venue’s campus itself is a year long children’s camp with residential neighbors, and is a tobacco and alcohol free zone.
Thank you for helping us value our venue, as well as, people with various breathing sensitivities, allergies, and otherwise, by enjoying these items in appropriate spaces, responsibly, and in such a way as not to negatively impact others. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave the event or move to more appropriate spaces at the staff’s discretion.
Are there local wineries, craft breweries, cider mills, and the like?
Yes! There are many local craft and small batch establishments, as well as, well known wineries up and down the various lakes. Many offer tours and flights to sample and learn about the unique growing environment provided in the Finger Lakes region.
How should I leave my cabin and tent site?
Please respect our venue as gracious hosts that don’t typically open their camp to events such as ours. We endeavor to see ourselves as guests. Please help us maintain our great community reputation by always leaving the facility and grounds “better” than when we arrived.
This is a pack in, pack out, event. There is a dumpster provided for all refuse by the barn. Please leave cabins fully swept clean as we do not have a cleaning crew, and the camp often has events booked right behind us.
Our hope is that they will continue to open their venue for our use for years to come. Thank you for helping our community maintain a stellar reputation by leaving things better than when we arrived, and respecting all camp guidelines.

The Community Board Game Network is a not-for-profit humanitarian organization that utilizes creativity, adventure, and board gaming to add value to local communities. All funds collected are used for expenses related to Great Escape on the Lake. Our desire is to be able to fairly cover the expenses of those providing services for us. *Application process underway for 501(c)3 status.
